Big News!

Meredith lost her first tooth today!

She lost it at the pool.

Actually, she lost it IN the pool.

Some nice dad and his son put on goggles and scoured the bottom of the pool but they couldn't find it.

And Allie once thought she stepped on it (gross) but wasn't real sure.

So we've decided to write a note to the Tooth Fairy explaining what happened and hopefully she will still leave Meredith some money tonight.

Meredith couldn't be more excited!

What a Difference a Week Makes

Last week...


...sunny skies and not a care in sight.

This week...


...things just aren't quite right.

Maty doesn't look too jolly.

Probably 'cuz of this thing...


...her name is Polly.

She may look like a plain old grey kitty but she's really quite special. She's a polydactyl, meaning she has more than the usual number of toes on her front paws. On her right paw, she actually has seven toes. The left one has six toes.

Although Maty has some adjusting to do, I think Polly likes her new home. How do I know?

More Big News!

Allie lost her other front tooth today. This doesn't come as much of a surprise since once the first one came out yesterday, the other one got really loose, really fast. In fact, it was literally hanging by a thread, a very strong thread. We tried and tried last night and today to get it out. Finally Allie said she'd let me give it a go. I twisted, pulled, and gave it a good ol' yank and it finally popped out!

I've Been Kinda Busy

Where has the month of May gone? Meredith is done with her first year of preschool, Allie is finishing up first grade, HenFest has come and gone, and summer is right around the corner.

I have TONS to blog about. But I've been working all week so the laundry is piled up, the fridge is bare, and I'm tired!

But we do have some news to share...tonight Jason got his new truck and he is one happy boy!

Allie can now ride her bike without training wheels!!

Allie's Big News!

Allie lost two teeth last night!

They've been loose for a long time. In fact, the permanent teeth have been coming in behind them, which had me very concerned.

But after some long negotiations with Dad, "wiggle gently, don't yank", he was able to get them

both out.

The tooth fairy came in the middle of the night and left Allie 10 quarters for her two teeth.

Big News!

It's been almost two weeks now so I feel it's safe to announce our big news...

MEREDITH IS WEARING BIG GIRL UNDERWEAR!!!

We worked on this for a long, long, long time. She was much more difficult to train than Allie. But she finally "got it" and realized that it was much more comfortable to wear cute little Strawberry Shortcake panties than big bulky diapers.

And since she's started wearing the undies, she's found a new sense of freedom. She's constantly hopping, dancing, singing, and twirling around the house. Must feel good to be a big girl!

Meredith's Hernia

For about a month now, I've suspected that Meredith may have a hernia. We had an appointment yesterday with a surgeon who confirmed my suspicions. She has an inguinal hernia, in the groin area on her right side. She will need surgery and it's been scheduled for the morning of Monday, February 4th. The doctor said it's a quick, 30 minute procedure but she will need to be put under with general anesthesia. The incision will be small and won't require any stitches and she may even be up and running around that same day.

Big Girl Bed

Meredith is almost 3 years old so we thought it was time to get her a big bed of her own. She loves it! I've never seen her as eager to take a nap as she was today. And within minutes, she was snoring away. I think it's a magical bed!
