It's Dance Picture Time Again...

Even though I am doing the adult jazz class again this year, I opted not to get my picture taken with the kids. All three of our picture sessions were scheduled for different nights which made it too hectic to coordinate. But just you wait, the recital is in less than two weeks, and then you will see all of us in our dancing splendor!

I Did It!

I actually got up on stage, in front of hundreds of people at the Grand Theatre, and danced!

I didn't fall, pee my pants, or pass out.

I just had fun!

Of course, it helps to have encouragement from your family...

the support of good friends...

a sister-in-law who can make you look like a hot mama...

and a bit of liquid courage always helps too!

It's Dance Picture Time!

Now, we all know that both the girls are pros when it comes to all of this dance stuff.

This is Allie's fourth year of dancing and she is amazingly good at it.

This is Meredith's second year of dance and she's a natural too.

I haven't danced since I was 5 years old and this is what I looked like.

I don't remember liking it very much.

I think stage fright got the best of me and I only did it for one year.

But now, in middle age, I've decided to challenge myself and take an adult dance class.

So here, some 30 years later, is my dance picture.

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

Dance Recital 2009

Allie, Meredith, and Cousin Olivia had their dance recital last Saturday. It was a fun day that began with Aunt Kendra doing their hair and makeup.

All three girls danced in the afternoon show. Meredith's tap dance was to the song "Mr. Postman". Allie tap danced to "The Candy Man" by Sammy Davis Jr. and Olivia's dance was a lyrical ballet to the song "Tomorrow". Both the older girls danced in the evening show as well. For the first time, Kendra and I helped backstage during the second show. It's absolutely amazing to see all the work that goes into putting on such a performance!

This is Allie's third year and she seems to be a natural when it comes to dancing. Her dance class won the "Best Attitude" Award for the year. She did an excellent job and you can tell she really enjoys it!

And next year...we'll add one more dancer to the stage!

She is the Dancing Queen

It was another long awaited day in Meredith's life...

...she had her first dance class last night.

After watching Allie for the last two years, she knew exactly what to do.

She's a natural!

Dancing From Dusk Till Dawn

Today is Allie's dance recital. This is her second year taking dance lessons at Heidi's Dance Studio. She really enjoys dancing and I'm sure she will continue with it, although she also loves the ice skating.

This time of the dance year gets very hectic. First, there are professional pictures to be taken.

Then comes the 3 hour dress rehearsal. I have a video clip of the dance but I cannot figure out how to included it in this post. If and when I do, I'll make sure to let you know.

And finally, the big show at Wausau's Grand Theater. Allie's cousin, Olivia, is in the same dance as Allie so the girls were up early this morning to get ready. It's a good thing that Aunt Kendra is so good at doing hair and makeup. Here are the girls all dolled up.
