Big Girl Bed

Meredith is almost 3 years old so we thought it was time to get her a big bed of her own. She loves it! I've never seen her as eager to take a nap as she was today. And within minutes, she was snoring away. I think it's a magical bed!

Teddy Bear Breakfast

Grandma Sharon took Allie, Meredith, Cousin Olivia, my sister-in-law Kendra, and me to the Teddy Bear Breakfast on Sunday morning. It was at a local banquet hall that hosts the annual Festival of Trees auction and all proceeds benefit the hospice in our area.

We had a delicious breakfast and looked at all the beautifully decorated trees.

For the kids, there were clowns making balloon animals, a talking tree; "Bruce the Spruce", and even a phone to call the North Pole and talk to one of Santa's elves. And of course, both Santa and Mrs. Claus were there, too!

We had a magical time and I hope this will be the start of a new Christmas tradition!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

We went to our first official Parent-Teacher Conference last night. I was nervous...you're sitting there in the classroom, at a student desk, basically being graded on how you've raised your child to this point. Thankfully, we got a good grade! I love to hear it when the teacher says, "Everytime I look at Allie, I see her shining eyes and that big smile". She's doing very well in all the areas of learning that is expected of a kindergartener.

One thing they do each day is called "The Morning News". They have time to draw a picture and write about something they did the day before. Allie talks about this a lot but I'd never seen it for myself. Last night we were given some of her papers. Here is her picture of our recent trip to Rib Mountain.



They are taught not to ask the teacher how to spell a word but to sound it out and write what they hear. Sometimes it's challenging to figure out what word they were trying to spell. I had a hard time with the last word from this picture..."hiyc". Any guesses?

"We went to HIKE!" Not too bad for a 5 year old!
